Choosing Your Wedding Gown
Most girls dream of walking down the aisle in a beautiful gown that will make them more beautiful than they have ever looked in their entire lives. As brides-to-be flip through magazines, they see beautiful gowns worn by celebrities and pretty models, and they gain an idea of the type of dress they want. Seeking inspiration from such sources is not wrong. However, you must know that women have different body types. So, your wedding dress must look fantastic neither on the model nor the mannequin, but on you. Here are some tips that you can follow.
1. Pear shaped - this means your hips are wider than your shoulders and your waist is well defined. Off-shoulder gowns with strapless v-neck or scooped necklines usually look good on this figure. You can choose an empress style or an A-line skirt, but avoid full and pleated skirts. Try adding a diagonal accent on your gown's bodice.
2. Inverted triangle - this means your shoulders are wider than your hips. You can go for straight cut and bias cut gowns, as well very full skirts. Try higher cut necklines and halters, but avoid wide necklines. Add a noticeable accent (ribbon, flower, etc.) on your hip area.
3. Rectangular - this means your hips and shoulders are more or less the same width, but your hips are not too defined. Create the impression of a smaller waist with a V-shaped waistline. Use corsets and semi-full skirts. Avoid straight cut dresses and draped waistlines.
4. Hourglass shaped - this means you have a well defined waist and your shoulders and hips are of the same width. V-neck, strapless and scooped necklines, as well as off-shoulder types, work well. Corsets, A-line skirts and mermaid skirts will look good. Avoid straight cuts and empire styles.
