Metal Bands and Stones
A wedding ring is considered as an indispensable sign of eternal love and togetherness. For this reason, the exchange of rings has been integrated into wedding ceremonies in many cultures. As this is something that you will wear for the rest of your life, you must choose one that you will always be proud to put on your finger.
There are three metals that are usually chosen for wedding bands. They are gold, silver and platinum. Gold comes purest in 24 karats, but it is very soft at this state. On the other hand, an 8k gold ring will not look very pleasing. The best choices would be 14k and 18k, as these are attractive durable. Yellow gold looks more traditional while white gold matches with both gold and silver jewellery.
Silver is an elegant metal choice. It is usually chosen by those who like wearing jewellery, as silver can look great with different ensembles and outfits. Platinum is a silvery metal that is rarer than gold. It is able to resist damage, which means that it can stay in good condition even after you and your husband celebrate your 50th wedding anniversary.
In recent years, a new metal, titanium, has become a preferred choice for wedding bands. It has a striking greyish hue that creates an interesting appeal. It can also be easily moulded into different shapes, carved and engraved. It is highly durable, too.
Gemstones or diamonds are used to beautify a wedding ring. Gemstones can be ruby, sapphire or even your birthstone. Diamonds come in various cuts: marquise, princess, oval, heart, round, rose, emerald, clear and several others. They also come in various colours, carats and clarity levels.
